This program, spanning from 2002 to 2010, aimed at enhancing the water supply and
sanitation facilities in several regions, including Badulla, Gampaha, Puttalam, Kalutara, and Matara. It was executed through collaboration with the Asian Development Bank, providing financial support for national water supply and sanitation projects, as well as technological advancements in water and wastewater treatment.

Preventing waterborne diseases
Strengthening institutional capacity for water management
Conducting awareness programs on health and hygiene
The basic infrastructure development was carried out under the guidance of the Central Environmental Authority (CEA), contributing significantly to the overall improvement of water and sanitation conditions in rural areas.
